Privacy Policy
The highlights (AKA what I’ll do with your personal data)
Please do have a read of my GDPR privacy policy below. I also wanted to give you an overview in this introduction of how I use your personal data in order to fulfil my services to you as a wedding or portrait photographer in layman’s terms, because quite frankly all the legal speak makes my head hurt and if you’re anything like me you just want to know in real terms how I use your data.
It is necessary for me to collect and store some of your personal details in order to do my job and give you the best possible service. When you enquire with me in order to let you know whether I’m free for your wedding (yay!) I need your contact details. Because you’ve expressed an interest in me taking photos of your face I’ll keep your details on file for a while so I can follow up with you and check if you have any questions. I promise I won’t phone you every day until you book me, or email you spam twice a day until you can take it no longer! I’ll only send you relevant information, but to follow my enquiry work flow I will store your details in my management software Light Blue and my email management software Mailer Lite as well as in my Gmail inbox.
After you book I’ll need your contact details so I can keep in touch with you about the details of your wedding or shoot, send you your photos via your viewing gallery, so I can arrange delivery of your album. From time to time after your wedding or shoot I might follow up with you via email marketing about special offers or discounts you might be interested in but these are infrequent – I promise I will never, ever spam you with tonnes of emails, to be frank I’m just too busy with my camera to send you guys a shed load of e-marketing emails.
I also withhold the right to show my photographs to others for the purposes of advertising, and I’ll ask you to agree to this when you book by signing my contract. You probably booked me because you saw my photos of someone else’s wedding on this website, or my pretty photos of someone else’s cute kids and you liked what you saw (aw shucks!). I may also send these photos to a third party for advertising, either on a wedding blog or magazine because I’m kind of a big deal. I would never sell your photos and you do have the right to request that I don’t use the images in my portfolio, however in this case I reserve the right to decline your booking and it would make me sad because I’m always super proud of the work I do and I want show it off. Probably a side effect of that drama school education.
Occasionally I share your details or images with a third party like my album company or print distributor in order to fulfil orders you’ve made or an image processor for specialist editing when needed. I also monitor how visitors to my website use it, where they are and what pages they like best so I can improve my website & customise my advertising. So all pretty standard stuff.
Basically, what I’m trying to say here is I won’t be a dick with your personal details and after a reasonable period of time has passed I’ll delete them (but we’re gonna be BFFs right?!). If you have any questions, just ask me, I’m a human after all. And do see below for the legal speak.
