want to add wedding video too?Â
now you can.
In 2024 I started creating wedding highlights videos and I’m so excited to launch this new service for my couples. On your wedding day between capturing stills I can also shoot some video clips which I’ll put together into a heart felt 3-4 minute film, capturing the atmosphere and emotion of the day. This is different to having a dedicated videographer, if you want your ceremony & speeches filmed in full with synced audio, or cinematic drone shots, a highlights film won’t be for you. I have worked with some amazingly talented videographers over the years and I’ll continue to recommend them to my couples. But, if you are looking for a photographer who can shoot video clips to enhance your memories of your day, let’s talk!Â
You want capturing your wedding memories to feel relaxed and laid-back…
the idea of of a pack of people with cameras following you around for the day gives you the ick
You want video but without the price tag
as I’ll already be there taking photos, it’s cost effective for me to capture some film too, rather than adding another specialist vendor to the budget
You want video for the atmosphere of it
and aren’t worried about watching the whole ceremony or the speeches in full over and over again you just want to feel the vibe of the day again
Here are some wedding highlights films I’ve made
(in between taking photos on the day too)
HOW IT WORKS ON THE DAY
1

under the radar
I’ll be filming short clips throughout the day which add up to make your highlights film, in between taking the photos. You won’t really notice when I’m taking photos and when I’m shooting video as I do both with my cameras ‘hand held’. This means my film making really fits in with my whole ethos of capturing weddings in a really relaxed, unobtrusive way, under the radar.
2

capturing audio
Adding audio to my films is always a really special touch. It doesn’t always work within the edit and it’s not guaranteed, but I’ll record your ceremony and the speeches with a small, discreet mic – about the size of a pen- which can slip into a jacket pocket, or sit on the table. Whether or not the audio goes into the final film, I’ll give you all the audio to enjoy after the day to enjoy listening back to forever.
3

during your couple's shots
When we take time out to take some photos of just the two of you we’ll ensure we have enough time to capture both photographs and video (don’t panic, I’ll keep you for around 25 mins so not too long!) and just to let you know we may do some things twice. For example, if you’re walking up a lane together I’ll shoot that once for photo and once for video, it’s all pretty chilled and straight forward.

times I wish I had a clone...
For the most part it’s super easy for me to capture everything on both photo and video as it’s happening. However, there are a few times during the day we’ll need to discuss your preference for me to prioritise photo or video. The first looks in the morning, is one time you’ll need to choose between photo or video. Usually I recommend photographing your Dad’s reaction, and filming the bridesmaids, but it’s up to you. I also prioritise photographing your first kiss over video. I always work as a photographer first with video as a nice bonus where possible. But as you can see from the films above, it never feels like there’s something ‘missing’ from the films.Â
here are some
kind words
we didn't even realise you were filming!
Thank you so much for the video, we love it so much! We didn’t know what to expect because most of the time we didn’t even realise you were filming, but honestly, you’ve captured the essence of the day perfectly! We wanted a video to share with friends and family that weren’t able to join us, and the snippets of all the day plus the audio clips of the speeches and vows makes it so special. Many tears were shed watching it and re-living the day, we’re so happy we have it to look back on forever.

beautifully captured
Lydia’s film was so special, capturing all the excitement and energy from our wedding day. It was beautifully captured, like bringing our photos to life, and just like being a fly on the wall at our own wedding! I’m so glad we had video, having thought it wasn’t importantly initially, I now finding myself watching it all the time!Â

the video was truly exceptional
“The video Lydia created of our wedding was truly exceptional. Watching it afterwards and being able to relive moments of such a joyous day was deeply emotional. She captured everything beautifully and we honestly can’t thank her enough for all her hard work putting it together. We are endlessly grateful to have these memories to cherish forever!”

got some
questions?
Can you really film video AND take good wedding photos?
Yes absolutely. All the films shown above were shot while I was also taking the photographs too. Only one of those weddings had added a second photographer in their package. I bet you can’t even guess which?! It’s very simple on today’s cameras to swap between photo and video, and in just a few seconds I can capture some lovely moments which all add up to make a beautiful film.
This being said, primarily I am a photographer and so photos of course, always take priority. Especially key moments like walking down the aisle/first kiss/confetti etc. I usually ensure I’ve photographed a moment before switching to video.
To give you more of an idea how it works, each video clip is about 4-5 seconds long and on average I shoot about 100 video clips so that’s about 8 minutes in total throughout a whole day of filming time, which less than one minute filming in a whole hour when I’m busy taking photos.Â
Do we need to book a second shooter if we want video too?
No, this isn’t essential and I’ve covered several weddings where I’ve been the only photographer and I’ve managed both. I would definately advise having a two hour drinks reception so I can get everything done, and to ensure the day feels relaxed. And if candid photos of your guests are high on your priority list and you are having a big wedding I’d recommend a second shooter but it’s not essential.Â
Can we choose the music for our film?
No, due to music licensing laws you can’t choose your song (or have your first dance song for example) for your wedding video. I’ll choose the music based on the feel of your day, and the footage.Â
Why don't all your films include audio from the ceremony or speeches?
Sometimes depending on the music or just the content of the audio it just doesn’t fit into the edited film. But if it doesn’t make it into the finished highlights film I’ll still supply you with the audio afterwards so you can relive those moments together.
How long do we have to wait for our edited wedding film?
The film will be ready with your finished collection of photographs around six weeks after the wedding.
What's the difference between you and a videographer?
I’m what’s known in the biz as a ‘hybrid shooter’ – someone who shoots both photo and video. Over the years I’ve worked with some amazingly talented videographers who produce beautiful cinematic films which might include drone footage, as well as your ceremony & speeches filmed in full from multiple angles, with the audio perfectly synced in. If that sounds like what you’re looking for then do ask me for recommendations of some of the brilliant videographers I’ve worked with.
But, I’m already going to be at your wedding in the thick of it, so me shooting a bit of video might make sense if you don’t want extra people with cameras around you all day. My videos are shot hand held, between photos, just from my POV (ie: not multiple angles) with short clips of moments put together to make up a heart felt video. It just depends what you’re looking for. I’m happy to get on a call and talk everything over on zoom. Just get in touch here.Â
Why is your video pricing so low and will it stay that way?
My video pricing is low because you’re able to take advantage of the fact that I’ll already be there at your wedding taking photos. If you book another vendor just to come and shoot video they’ll come their own full day fee as us photographers and videographers only have so many Saturdays per year we can shoot weddings.
My pricing for highlights films is low as I’m still fairly new to shooting video and I’m expanding my portfolio in this area. Over time my pricing will increase in line with my experience. Just like it did when I was a new photographer. So you’re deffo bagging a bit of a bargain at the moment.Â
How do we add video to our photography package?
There’s a simple tick box on the booking form when you book your photography package. Or, if you’re already booked in for photography, just drop me an email and let me know you’d like me to shoot some video for you! I’d love to capture some film for you to add to your memories of your day.
