Hey you, how’re you holding up? Things are tough right now aren’t they? Well, the one good thing about lockdown is that I actually have the time (in between home schooling and Joe Wicks workouts!) to dig out the weddings which I should have shared on this blog months ago, but that in usual times I just wouldn’t have time for. And boy, do I have a beauty to share with you today. This Osborne House wedding is a bit of a beast so should provide good entertainment if you’ve got a bad case of the lockdown boredom going on.

When an email dropped into my inbox back in 2018 asking if I was free to shoot a wedding at the incredible Osborne House on the Isle of Wight I knew from that moment that it would be pretty epic. Osborne House (Queen Victoria’s holiday home!) it’s self is an incredible backdrop, but also has it’s own beach and is surrounded by stunning gardens and woodland – truly a photographers dream!

But somehow my already high expectations were exceeded. Charlie & Jeff’s incredible wedding day had everything I love about a wedding in abundance, love, joy, and one hell of a party. There were two ceremonies, two bands with two separate dancing sessions, the wine flowed and there was so much joy and laughter. The results are some of my favourite ever wedding photos. I feel this set of images really captures what I want to deliver you, a myriad of many small moments and details and people captured, which add up to make up the story of one incredible day. Let me tell you a little more…

The day started with Charlie & Jeff’s legal ceremony by the sea, attended only by closest family and friends. This gave them the freedom to hold their wedding where ever and however they pleased on the estate. After their small ceremony Charlie changed dress, while Jeff greeted guests for their Jewish wedding ceremony which was performed by friends. This was just one element which made the day more personal, they had done so much themselves including crafting their own Chuppah – the canopy under which the Bride & Groom stand during the ceremony. It was beautiful.

After the ceremony guests were treated to champagne, fish & chip canapes and ice creams before everyone piled onto the beach for Israeli dancing culminating in The Hora– a dance where the Bride and Groom are lifted on chairs above all the guests heads. It was chaotic, energetic, invigorating and joyful, and followed up with a little paddle in the sea before guests made their way through the woods to a marquee in the shadow of the house.

After dinner, guests were entertained by the incredible Blues Brothers Banned who really got the party going. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these guys. The dance floor was packed, everyone was having the time of their lives. The atmosphere was electric. It was really a very special day to have been a part of.
