I am so lucky that I get to work with couples who want to do things in their own way. Lots of my couples have apologetically explained that they’re ‘doing things differently/aren’t cutting the cake/don’t want a seating plan/are ditching the speeches’, and I always love hearing this because it nearly always means the day will be just what they want, really relaxed and that super enjoyable for all involved. Kerry & Steve were one of these couples. Weddings can be one long tick list of ‘we ought to have/do this/lets do that because it’s traditional’ but it needn’t be that way if you don’t want to and Kerry and Steve designed their day around what they wanted to create the wedding they dreamed of, totally unique to them.
They started the day at The Lawns in Holt, Norfolk, a beautiful old house and garden available to rent and recently licensed for weddings. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony under the trees accompanied by the sound of a grammarphone. Afterwards they put on nibbles and drinks in their own home crafted bar, the boys mixed the cocktails themselves earlier in the day. Later in the afternoon the couple and their guests moved to ‘Back to the Garden’ a farm shop/cafe with a difference for an afternoon tea and speeches. They had decorated the barn beautifully, with real moss table runners which were embellished with tea cups holding gilded & glittered apples and pineapples while vintage cut glass held flowers which looked like they could have been gathered from near by hedgerows. After tea the guests played lawn games and relaxed in the summer sun, while I took the opportunity to take Kerry & Steve over the road for some shots and time alone to reflect in the corn field before their outdoor first dance. In the evening a hog roast and pizza oven kept the guests satisfied.
Thank you so much for asking me to travel to Norfolk to capture your wedding day guys. I absolutely loved every moment of it, and you created such a special, beautiful and unique event. Congratulations!
