As the weather turns warmer, and I’m sat at home during the Coronavirus lockdown my mind has inevitably turned to weddings, and some of the scorchers we had last year. Florence & Sebastian’s wedding day was blisteringly hot. It was the first time I’d ever shot a wedding at Southend Barns and I have to say I fell in love with the place.
Southend Barns is a mix of both old and new, with a traditional beamed barn on one side, and a contemporary ceremony room on the other, split in two by a lovely lawn for your drinks reception. They’ve absolutely nailed the decor, and it feels modern and contemporary, while the main barn still has all the rustic charm you could ever want from a barn venue.
To top it off, The Wessex Flower Company dressed the venue absolutely beautifully. Florence & Sebastian were married in front of a beautiful moon gate, and inside the barn gorgeous hanging garlands, embellished with hanging candles looked incredible. Florence had chosen coral charm peonies, one of my personal favourites and they were everywhere. Around the cake and the table plan too. The effect was stunning.
I loved Florence’s style too. Her perfectly undone updo teamed with her statement earrings was boho bride perfection and those Harriet Wilde shoes were just incredible.
At the end of the day after the first dance I snuck Florence and Sebastian off to the field just outside the venue as the sun was beginning to set. As is often the case these are some of my favourite photos of the day. We sat in the cornfield enjoying the first bit of cool breeze the day had to offer reflecting on how incredible it had all been. I remember Sebastian saying “well I didn’t expect to go and sit in a field on my wedding day”. Thank you for being so up for the adventure guys, and for bringing together so much beauty, it was a joy for me to capture.
