Sharon & Huw’s wedding was awesome. It’s just the kind of wedding I wanted to shoot when I first started wedding photography, a really relaxed fun filled day packed full of original quirky DIY details, which totally reflect the bride and groom. The pair are obviously music lovers and Huw made Sharon a mix tape (yes- even on cassette!) which he gave to her the morning of the wedding including instructions to play it loud! The ceremony took place at the beautiful Islington Town Hall. As Sharon’s Dad is a black cab driver Sharon and her Dad arrived in a vintage taxi and the London touches continued when all of the guests took an iconic old route master to the reception venue The Clissold Arms in Muswell Hill where their love of music was again reflected.
The Clissold is the very first pub that The Kinks ever played at, and so a whole room in the pub is dedicated to them, covered in paintings, music and old records and other memorabilia (even a sofa with a photo of them!); making The Clissold a brilliant venue for music lovers, or anyone looking for a cool, individual and alternative wedding venue. Of course this means the place doesn’t need much decor, and Sharon did all the flowers herself, including the bouquet and sweet little jam jars for the tables. Sharon & Huw also had a dessert table covered in amazing homemade cakes, to accompany their awesome route master bus wedding cake made by a friend as well as a cheese stack. I don’t think anyone could have gone hungry! After dinner the brilliant chaps from Disco Shed arrived and they danced their first dance to ‘Baby, I love you’ by the Ramones. The perfect song to sum up this gorgeous, laid back pair and their relaxed day. It was such a pleasure to be a part of your day guys. Thanks for having me!
