Intimate Newborn Portrait Session At Home

Mar 11, 2017 | portraits

I shot Lauren & Scott’s wedding, so it was such a pleasure and privilege to capture some photos of their brand new baby boy for them. Being invited into someone’s home when there is a new baby is so special. It’s such a bubble, an incredibly precious time but one that can also be full of nervous and stress. As a Mum myself I remember the feeling of overwhelm and so I’m always sensitive to how you may be feeling as a new Mum and I try to keep the sessions quick but while also taking my time not to rush. I’m always happy to wait through any feeds, changes or unsettled periods. Theo was an absolute angel and slept through most of this session, keeping the room warm certainly helps!

I’m so pleased with what we captured, and I know as Theo grows these will be a beautiful reminder for their family of all the little details of him as a baby. Those feet only stay small for such a short time. I love doing newborn sessions at home too so we can include personal items, like the shall baby is wrapped in and what the cot looked like. As the years pass all these details and our memories fade so capturing them is such a special thing.
