I definitely jumped up and down with excitement when Emilia’s initial enquiry email dropped into my inbox. I was shooting a winter wedding in a frosty Copenhagen at the time, and I remember that the thought of a hot Tuscany wedding felt a million miles away. Though as they always do, it came round quickly, and Luke and I decided to take a few days to enjoy Lucca before the wedding day.
When the day arrived I braved the Italian roads and the Italian drivers; and after a rather hilarious sign language style conversation with an old man at a petrol station I managed to get my Fiat 500 up the narrow winding roads from Lucca to Tenuta San Pietro.
The stunning view from the top of the hills was worth the nail biting drive, and the beauty continued from there on. Doesn’t Emilia look absolutely breath taking in her dress and Jimmy Choos? And Si wasn’t half bad either; it was nearly impossible to take a bad photo of those two beautiful people especially in the amazing Tuscan golden hour light when I stole them away after dinner.
Thank you so much for asking me to come to Italy to shoot your day guys, I had so much fun. The food was amazing, your friends and family were so much a good laugh, I’m always going to remember it with a smile. xx
Woooohhh what a fantastic wedding – I love the images of the father of the bride seeing his daughter for the first time, really lovely. Beautiful work Lydia.
Ah, thank you Becky. It was a really emotional moment, times like that make me realise just how important my job is. Those are the things I love to capture most. x
