Charlotte & Jamie had the most perfectly personal wedding at the stunning Barn at Bury Court just outside Farnham in Surrey. The barn is set next to converted oast houses and is a truly beautiful setting, surrounded by countryside, brimming with photography options. It’s definitely one of my new favourite venues and I absolutely loved shooting this wedding. Aside from the fact that Charlotte was the most stunning bride and chose gorgeous florals and chic coast skirts for her bridesmaid’s to wear Charlotte and Jamie are one of those couples you just instantly take a liking to. Jamie I one of the most smiley people I’ve met, and instantly puts you at ease and Charlotte has a warm and playful twinkle in her eye. You just fall for them both immediately. Charlotte and Jamie managed to make their long distance relationship between the UK and Canada work. Their enduring love for each other is so clear to see, and it was obvious that all their guests, the friends and family were behind them and so passionately supporting them, there was a very special atmosphere on the day. Their story, and their love of travel provided a bit of a theme for the wedding with significant locations as the table names, a world map as the table plan and a sweet little heat motif with a airplane route between Canada and the UK on their orders of service.
But it was the people, the tangible love on the day which was my favourite feature of this wedding. There were so many moments on this day that I just loved, and they were all about the people, the warmth and love that just surrounds these two. I loved the moment the bride and bridesmaids kicked off their pumps to change into their shoes just outside the church after the walk up the dirt track from the barn to the church. And the last minute addition of Charlotte’s earrings passed to her by a family member in her final moments before becoming a Mrs. I loved the guests carrying the flowers out of the church to the venue back via the woodland path with Charlotte’s dress hitched up. And the little moment Charlotte’s bridesmaid lovingly adjusted her veil during the drinks reception. And the random dinner game involving a whole table of guests lying on the barn floor half way through the wedding breakfast! Somehow, it all felt so special. It’s the moments like this I really want to capture on your wedding day. They make up the individual personality of your wedding. They’re the things which might slip by and get forgotten alongside all of the ‘big’ moments which I like to document too. So the group shots are there, and so is the first kiss of course, but it’s the stolen moments, the ones that make you you, that ones made Charlotte & Jamie’s day so special that make me love my job. Thanks for letting me into your crazy wonderful family for the day guys, to bear witness and be a part of your wonderful day.
