Well, that was 2016. Is it just me or did the year pass in the blink of an eye?! Sounds cliched I know, but this year was a bit of a biggie for me. Having my first baby in January I really had no idea how life would look for me in 2016 juggling motherhood with running a business. I did take on less weddings than usual, but still ended up shooting more than planned and was invited to capture twenty five fabulous weddings and one by one they came and went far too quickly. Having maternity leave brought me back to the 2016 season with a new zest for, what I have realised is more than just a job to me.
Don’t get me wrong adjusting to my dual roles has been a challenge, I can’t just pick up my laptop and do what I want when I want anymore (I have serious empty blog guilt!) but I’m super proud of the fact I still managed to find a way to balance work and life while having so much fun with you guys along the way. It’s felt a bit epic, and like one of my biggest achievements yet. A bit like how I felt when I first went full time- sheer pride that I did it! And that’s all down to you guys for making it happen and making it the best job ever, and for making my year even better than I could have dreamed by helping me to be shortlisted as one of the best wedding photographers in the South West in The Wedding Industry Awards, which is beyond what I could have dreamed of for this year. Thank you to each of you for opening up your hearts, your homes, your friends and family to me. And a HUGE thank you to each of my assistants, Freya, Sam and Katie for the moral support and help along the way too.
Glorious, Lydia! Elegant, stylish & consistent – I would expect no less. It looks like an amazing 2016, I’m sure 2017 will exceed expectations. Well done, lovely woman. Xxxx
