Goodbye 2020

Dec 27, 2020 | Best of, featured weddings

What to say about 2020? What a crazy year. It’s been a hard year for so many people, so many business owners and so many couples. It’s been heart breaking watching the devastation this pandemic has brought unfold. There were many sleepless nights for both my couples and me. And there were times I wasn’t sure whether my little business would make it to 2021, which will be my tenth year in business.

It’s been challenging to say the least but I’m still here and in spite of it all, in the midst of everything there have been many beautiful moments in 2020. I have been blown away by the couples who have just decided to go for it, who just couldn’t wait and wanted to prioritise being married above all else. And I have been so grateful to all the families I have worked with to capture their little family milestones this year, and everyone who has bought a gift voucher, or ordered a print. Thank you. You have truly kept me going.

At the start of the year I was heading into a season of 28 weddings. In the end I have captured just seven. But all seven have been so, so special. I’ve also been busy beavering away on commercial photography for businesses including relaxed headshots, interiors and food photography. If you’re interested you can see my best commercial images of 2020 here.

It has been amazing to witness that even the face of a global pandemic life goes on somehow, and love endures all. When I look back on these photographs, at least one from each of the shoots I’ve done this year, above all what I see is life and love continuing in the face of anything.

So let’s raise a glass to that, with the light starting to become visible at the end of the tunnel…I can’t wait to celebrate and laugh and hug all of you who are finally getting married next year!

Please note when viewing images that some of these shoots took place between Jan-March 2021 before lockdown restrictions were enforced. Remember that crazy time!?

Twenty twenty one. As the year comes to a close I always enjoy looking back on what's past. It's been some what of a rollercoaster am I right? Back at the start of the pandemic, I just assumed 2021 would be a normal year again even if covid didn't disappear at the...
